September Spotlight: Prostate Cancer Awareness

Posted 1 day ago by Victorine Anzick

As nurse practitioners, we stand at the forefront of preventive care—and this September, we have a powerful opportunity to raise awareness about prostate cancer, the second most common cancer among men in the United States.

Early detection saves lives. Through routine screening, patient education, and culturally sensitive outreach, we can help reduce disparities and improve outcomes—especially in high-risk populations such as African American men and those with a family history of prostate cancer.

Let’s use this month to:

  • Encourage conversations about PSA testing and shared decision-making.
  • Educate patients on risk factors and symptoms.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle choices that support prostate health.
  • Uplift survivors and honor those affected.

Your voice matters. Whether you're in primary care, urology, oncology, or community health, your role in advocacy and education is vital. Together, we can make a meaningful impact.

Thank you for your continued dedication to patient-centered care and health equity.
